Mission Statement and History
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of W.I.S. is formed by Constitution which sets out the following as objectives of the PTA :
-
To promote close co-operation and contact between the Parents and Teachers for the general welfare of the Students;
-
To provide opportunities for discussion on general educational matters;
-
To provide or assist in providing educational aids, materials and extra-curricular activities, such as the Principal shall approve;
-
To improve the educational environment for the benefit of the Students, as approved by the Principal;
-
To receive donations and otherwise raise funds for the conduct of the Association and its works;
-
To carry out such other activities as the Members of the Association may decide.
These "objectives" form our "mission statement" and everything done by the PTA is for the benefit of the students.
Under the Government Ordinance that specifically creates and recognises the whole English Schools Foundation (ESF) organisation it is stated that every ESF school must have a PTA. This Ordinance also details how it is to be created and structured therefore although we have freedom to decide locally how we act in accomplishing our mission we are restricted by our Constitution.
