21st Century Learning at WIS
On Thursday West Island School hosted the 21st Century Learning – Asia Pacific – Digital Leader Summit.
An annual event for Digital Ambassadors from the Asia Pacific region, this event was attended by 120 students from 12 different schools from around Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing.
Each school was expected to share a presentation to the Summit of the Digital Leader Programme at their respective schools and answer questions from follow delegates regarding their school’s digital leader programme.
Throughout the day student delegates were introduced to Adaptive Management tools that they can use to better manage groups and were also expected to run a range of technology training sessions for other delegates. There were sessions on Microbits, Premier Pro, Media Management, ePortfolios and Podcasting.
Towards the end of the day delegates were expected to create, present and host a panel session on a controversial technology topic. The highlight of the day was however the guest speaker Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes, a Top 10 CNN Hero. Juan Pablo talked to the summit about his experiences of being born during the Guatemalan civil war and growing up with political instability with gang and drug crimes as the norm. He talked about how 10 years ago he created a safe space for young children to learn about art, music and culture his organization has now helped over 1,000 children, preparing them for academic success and life.
Overall, a very successful event. Our thanks to all speakers and presenters.
