WIS at 24 Hour Race
19 and 20 November 2016 marked the annual 24-hour relay race, Running to Stop the Traffik. Since 2011, this organisation has been hosting three simultaneous 24-hour races across Asia: in Hong Kong (The Peak), Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Their mission is to educate people about modern-day slavery, and raise sponsorship money for every lap run.
For the 6th consecutive year a group of 40 Post 16 WIS students arrived at the Peak, raring to go. Over 800 Hong Kong students from different schools participated over the 24 hour period in a race to lead global action against modern slavery. Some of our runners, Harmeet Bhatia and Derrick Poon, further added to the atmosphere by providing some of the musical entertainment during the Race.
Despite severe muscle cramps and a sleepless night, all our Runners learned more about resilience and grit from the Race. Hearty congratulations to our 5 teams and many thanks to Ms Withana for her organisation and support as well as the other teachers that helped the team out!
