WIS Cricket Team’s Thrilling Win

On December 10, the West Island School boys cricket team played CMA Choi Cheung Kok Secondary School. WIS travelled to the game knowing that qualification from the group had again escaped them. However, motivation came in the form of this being the last game of the season and the final ever WIS game for members of Year 13. Having lost the toss and been asked to field, we made a strong start, with a wicket falling to Raag Kapur in the first over. The strong start continued, only to be interrupted by a succession of wides and no balls which got the opposition going. However, the regular fall of wickets kept the opposition in check, as they stumbled to 106 off their 20 overs. Tight spells were bowled by Kapur, Ahan Manglik and Sumanas Sharma.
In reply, WIS got off to a flying start from Kapur as he latched on to anything loose. He was particularly harsh on the opposition spinner, who was launched far a succession of sixes. His dismissal only delayed the inevitable as the total was knocked off with overs to spare, for the loss of just 4 wickets.
Congratulations to the team on a thrilling win and thank you to all the WIS staff for their constant support.
