Jemima Ridley Places First in Swim Relay Competition

Jemima Ridley of tutor group 11M2 recently competed in the 15km Open Water Asia Cold Half starting at Stanley.  Not only did Jemima and her swim buddy, Aneeka Styles win their category, they also broke the course record (which they had also set previously), completing the 15km in an amazing 3 hours 23 minutes 46 seconds.

IMG_5448Jemima reports:
The 15km course runs from Stanley Main beach to Middle Island beach, and we swam it as a relay, so each swimmer does 7.5km each, swapping over at the halfway mark. The conditions were perfect for the race, with warm air temperatures and even some sun, making the cold water slightly more bearable! Although swimming 7.5k is pretty tough, the feeling of accomplishment and pride at the end of the race is invaluable. The race is organised by Open Water Asia which is partnered with HK-based charity Ocean Recovery Alliance, and aims to highlight the importance of protecting and preserving our oceans. Ocean Recovery Alliance has many projects around the world, introducing innovative projects and initiatives that help improve our ocean environment, involving local communities and businesses in order to address some of pressing issues our oceans face today.
An incredible effort Jemima and Aneeka, well done!
