Hairspray Audition – Fundraising Musical

Because I-am-a-Girl campaign is now calling auditions for:
1. Children from 9 to 11
2. Teens from 12 to 18

Audition forms are available from all 14 Dramatic English Education Centres all around Hong Kong or it can be downloaded from www.DramaticEnglish.org
Please complete the form then submit to Dramatic English Headquarters – Unit 802, 8/F, New Kowloon Plaza, 38 Tai Kok Tsui Road, Olympic, Kowloon together with an application fee of HK$50 (by cash to be submitted in person or cheque by post payable to “Dramatic English”)

Because-I-am-a-Girl is Plan International’s global campaign to create a world that values girls, promotes girls’ rights and ends injustice. It is committed to driving a global movement that transforms power relations so girls everywhere can learn, lead, decide and thrive.

Dramatic English and its team of teachers and students would like to produce and stage the musical HAIRSPRAY to raise funds for this beautiful campaign. HAIRSPRAY is about one girl’s inspiring dream to dance and change the world. It celebrates diversity and calls for justice among people from different cultures.

Theatre is a powerful medium to communicate thoughts and ideas. Stories told through theatre can be easily remembered. Musicals, with the beautiful songs and dances, can attract even more people to appreciate the messages. Through the process of preparing for and finally staging the show, and through the marketing of the show through different channels, we can create unprecedented awareness of this campaign. More people will learn the plights of many girls in developing countries. They will be encouraged to contribute to change the courses of lives of these girls.
