28th West Island School Scout Group Update

Some of the WIS Scouts will participate Hong Kong Scout Association’s Trailwalker Race (25km and 50km) on 20 March. The Scouts had a practice hike last Sunday and hiked 25km from Blacks’ Link (distance post HK050) to The Peak to prepare for the race. Well done to the Scouts and thank you very much to all the Scout leaders: Mr Ross, Mr Childs, Mr Tang, Mr Tran, Mrs Gibb and  all the supportive parents including Mr Cheah, Mr Ng and Mr and Mrs Yang who attended the hike with the Scouts. The Scouts enjoyed the hike very much.

Every year the Scouts Group supports the Hong Kong Scout Association’s Island Region’s Trailwalker race, a fundraising event. The organiser collects the cans of food for St James’Settlement People’s Food Bank and Tung Wah Groups of Hospital. The Scouts managed to collect 627 cans of food during the Scout meeting which were later sent to the Scouts headquarters. These charities will distribute the cans of food to the people who are struggling to obtain food in Hong Kong. During the Scout meeting, the Scouts made ” Canstructions” with the cans they bought.
