ID Insight – Sasha Muscarello

My name is Sasha Muscarello and I am an ID student who is taking Major Art, Minor Business, IB Environmental Studies, and Psychology. I chose the International Diploma course because it was more focused. Even though at the start of the course I was not certain on my pathway, I knew that it would end up being in one of these four areas that I love, and being able to dedicate my full timetable to these areas would allow me to excel and develop relevant skills to help me with my future.

In the future I would really want to pursue my passion of Art, and the way BTEC is taught and assessed, through a variety of practical ‘real life tasks’ has encouraged me to take new risks to explore new areas of the subject. I have learnt that in Art and Business there is so many more layers then just the surface and by doing BTEC it has allowed me to peel back those layers and learn in depth. I also took the Extended Project Qualification, in which I looked at emotions within portraits. This experience really allowed me to develop my art skills in portraiture and gave me a better understanding of time management and academic writing.
