Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

This week, a number of students had the opportunity of telling us of their successes and learning.

They are invited to our morning staff briefings to let us know how they do on a regular basis.

Our lower school students came second in the ESF-wide Spanish Speaking Competition, which is our best ever result and will aid student confidence. We came first in the ESF-wide Boys and Girls Year 7 Basketball Competition, and also came first in the ESF-wide Swimming Gala as a whole school team. Congratulations to all those students!

Students graduating for the first time from our Learning Centre also informed us of a special party for the Learning Centre taking place next week.

We saw Year 9 student performance pieces based around the Refugee Crisis; opening their minds to others and living our value of ‘Compassion to others’ in a dramatic forum.

Lastly this week, we held our Year 7 Student Led Conferences. The concept is to aid students in articulation of their learning, by allowing them to speak about their experiences and target areas to their parents in a formal setting through a presentation. This is something the school has built gradually into our programmes and we continually seek ways to aid students to talk about learning and in doing so, understand their needs and strengths.

All in all, a great week of student voices telling us all about their learning.

Yours,
Jane
