WIS in Semi Final of ISSF Football

On November 1, the C Grade Football team went to King’s Park to play in the semi-finals of the ISSF tournament. It was a tough match against Kellett School. We started off a bit shaky but after we lay down the foundation, we started playing some solid football. We went one nil up before half-time. They seemed re-energised after the break and launched a few dangerous balls into the box, but we pressed higher up the pitch and we were rewarded with a goal. They brought on a big tall lad at right wing, we were slightly intimidated and they got back in it. 2-1, with six minutes to go. It was really intense during those last few minutes. Everyone battled hard, there were a few fouls and injuries. They got very very close towards the end but we defended vigorously until the whistle blew. The game ended 2-1 to West Island.

We were against HKIS in the final. They had previously beaten us 4-1 a couple of weeks ago. They were the stronger team, faster and taller. We struggled to fend against their attacks. They scored goal after goal but we fought back and netted 3 ourselves. Final score, 7-3.

It was a disappointing loss, but we tried our hardest and we got second place in Division 1.
