Doreen Slinkard visits West Island School

West Island was very fortunate to have Doreen Slinkard read to our lower years; she shared many of her short stories which have recently been translated into Mandarin and the bilingual editions are now used across schools in China.  Doreen read some extracts from her latest collection called the ‘Wicky Wacky Farm Series’.

The sessions were enjoyed by come of our first language Chinese Year 7, 8 and 9 classes; with students creating their own stories and asking lots of questions in both English and Mandarin following the readings.
Little Thought Monsters and The Haunted House were two of the students’ favourites.
Thank you Doreen for your time and safe travels back to Australia.
