WIS Crowned Champions at Year 7 Football ISSF Finals 2017
On a beautiful Tuesday morning WIS’s Year 7 football team represented the school superbly in the ISSF play off’s at Kings Park.
After qualifying from a tough group that included CDNIS, IS and ISFA, WIS played Harrow in the semi final. Arthur Clayton scored early in the second half and Harrow equalised soon after meaning penalties were required to separate the teams.
It felt like Hollywood – Oscar Green (goalkeeper) saved a penalty after advice from Oscar Cheung (reserve goalkeeper) and the winning penalty was scored by Oscar Sheward. WIS prevailed 4-3 and and faced HKIS in the final. Having lost to HKIS in the qualifiers it was a difficult task. Captain Sam Walton led the team with skill and intensity as the game was goalless at half time. Rayan Engine, Edward Langston, Ewan Ballantyne, Josh Powell, Ceri Ryder James Darton and Neil D’Chuna
had all made telling contributions as the game moved towards full time and then Arthur Clayton scored to clinch the game and the trophy.
Two very close games that were well planned by Coach Edward Hudson (10M) and who made a telling contribution during the season.
Well done to everyone involved and see you at Sunrise Running!
