West Island Sport Update
It has been a whirlwind start to Term 3 and we have hit the ground running (and swimming). At the Inter Dynasty level, there were two mini swim galas and a biathlon which saw over 300 participants from Year 7 to 10. There will be Inter School competitions later in the term and training will commence next week to which every student can attend.
At Inter School level, the C Grade Girls Hockey team after reaching the semi-finals narrowly lost 1-0 and also lost 1-0 in the 3rd/4th playoff. This gives a great foundation to build on in the coming years.
Boys C Grade Football beat Island School 3-0 to keep alive play off qualification hopes with their final game against HKIS on Sunday.
C Grade Boys Volleyball have their final group game on Saturday.
The C Grade Netball Team were victorious in their 1/4 final game with KGV (22-20!). Semi-final here we come!
The C Grade Boys Rugby Team beat KGV in the final to win the championships.
The Year 7 WIS Football teams (26 players) stated their season against ISF with a draw and a loss but with much to look forward to!
It was wonderful to see many parents at the annual WIS Sports Awards presentation where outstanding achievements were recognised and guest speakers Michael Campion (former ESF student and professional footballer) and Rehaan Lulla (WIS Class of 2017) gave inspirational and insightful speeches.
