WIS at HK Model United Nations
Last Sunday, West Island School was represented by 34 students at the annual Hong Kong Model United Nations conference. The conference is the largest in Hong Kong and was attended by schools from around the region.
We were particularly excited to be part of it this year as Aarushi Jain from Year 13 was honoured to be the Secretary General of the conference, responsible for organising the event and bringing all 450 delegates together.
Following the opening ceremony conducted by Aarushi delegates split off into their respective councils for three days of intense debate on issues ranging from the health crisis in Hong Kong to the debate on nuclear disarmament.
All delegates from West Island performed admirably, some at their first conference grew in confidence as the debates wore on. We were fortunate enough to receive two individual awards from the conference Harshul Singh (Year 12) winning ‘most improved delegate’ and Xiaxi Cai (Year 11) winning best delegate.
An exhausting and enthralling three days, thank you to parents for their support of the activity.
