Hands-on Learning on Sustainability for Year 7
The technology faculty recently hosted West Island School’s first-ever “Sustainable Swap Shop” for Year 7 students and asked them to bring in one unwanted, reusable item to swap. The students received tokens for their items to trade for something else donated that day. With loads of fantastic things to choose from – board games, books, plushie toys, and ping-pong sets, the students thoroughly enjoyed trading and were excited to support the planet while doing so! This activity raised awareness around the importance of recycling and reusing unwanted items, familiarised the students with the 6 R’s and how to be ‘Green Consumers’ moving forward.
