A helping hand this Chinese New Year

Upper School student, Ronnie Ng, spent her Chinese New Year break volunteering at the Integrated Brilliant Education Trust (IBEC) Jordan Center for 5 days and fully engaged herself in the Chinese New Year camp taking place at the center.

Talking about her experience Ronnie said, “With the students being apart of an underprivileged ethnic minority group in Hong Kong, I think that the low course prices are extremely beneficial for them. As a Chinese student going to an international school, I understand the language barrier that they may come across during their lives. The atmosphere here is both cheerful and welcoming. From what I have observed, there is no sense of foreignness between the students and teachers in the centre but instead there is a sense of familiarity and warmness. Although my time here at IBEC has been short, I feel that I have learnt and experienced a great deal during this period. I spent my five days at the centre working with children from kindergarten to those in year 5; the bonds that I have formed with all the students that I worked with is one that is unique and unforgettable.”

Well done Ronnie – you have made such a difference to these students!
