Celebrating Learning Differences

On Friday 21 April, West Island School celebrated and raised awareness of diverse learning needs by highlighting the experiences of well-known international personalities, sharing a student-made video with students during tutor time, and offering a range of interactive activities.

Students were able to get a sense of the challenges that people with learning needs may encounter. Students demonstrated a curiosity about what the activities represented and their comments reflected a deeper appreciation of how tasks may be perceived differently. Students also shared how they were able to utilize creative approaches to be successful.
