Digital Leaders at Kennedy School for Annual Technology Transition
West Island school’s Digital Leaders are currently leading a technology transition programme with Kennedy school students. Each Friday afternoon the Digital Leaders go to Kennedy School and teach the Year 6 students how to keep themselves safe online at their new school.
They teach the students about the changes they will face and the importance of personal responsibility. On Wednesday 3 April, Digital Leaders presented workshops on Responses to Cyberbullying, Safer Searching, Family Media Agreements and Tech Curfews.
The following Friday the Digital Leaders presented a programme of presentation skills looking at Building a Good Slideshow and Presenting it well. The primary students will them build a presentation on Becoming a Good Digital Citizen this will be presented to their parents at the Induction Week Finale on Friday 18 August. The advantages of this programme is that the junior students will arrive at WIS already prepared having become a good Digital Citizen, they will have familiar faces in the Digital Leaders who they can turn to in the first few days for help and as the programme is presented by senior students who have shared their stories and experiences there is real authenticity to digital problems discussed.
