Diwali Ball 2015

West Island School’s biggest event of the year, the Diwali Ball, took place on 4 November. As usual, the event was sold out almost immediately and additional seating had to be sorted out as the flurry of requests for tickets kept pouring in. The WIS auditorium was packed to the rafters with extra seats being brought in and standing room only for some observers.185 students were involved, a record for WIS. The evening was as usual written, directed and choreographed by our students, for our students and involved a number of elements include dance, drama and music. The result was a real sense of community, joy and ‘light’ in the spirit of Diwali.

It was also the first time we had a staff dance included in the programme which was a wonderful addition to the event. Once again, Mrs Foxcroft joined students for a delightful number as they danced to a choreographed popular Bollywood number that had the auditorium erupt with cheer.

A big thank you to Ms Hannaford for all her hard work in bringing this event to fruition and also to the upper school students in particular who learned so much about organization and leadership.

It was a grand success and we know students, staff and parents are looking forward to next year’s edition already.
