Diwali Ball 2016 – A Grand Success!
West Island School’s annual Diwali Ball entertained over 400 guests this year, making it the largest event we’ve ever showcased. The crowd loved every minute of “So You Think You Can Dance, Diwali”, from the exhilarating Bhangra dance moves to the delicious catering by Terry from Jashan. This years’ show also gave every single one of the 200+ students involved an opportunity to act in the video montages played prior to each spectacular dance performance. As usual, the entire evening was led entirely by students from the dance choreography to the acting and the filming.
The teachers dance was received enthusiastically by the audience and we also had a special mother’s dance by the mothers of Year 13 students and the crowd roared with delight. Our new Principal, Mr Sammons joined the final Year 13 dance with great style and he was cheered on by the entire audience.
An immense number of people took part in making sure that this year’s Diwali Ball was as amazing as it was, from the sound and lighting crew to the Events Council, to the teachers involved. We want to give a huge thank you to Ms Hannaford for her constant dedication and passion towards Diwali Ball and ensuring that the event was nothing but a success at the end of the night.
The night ended with nothing but positive comments from the entire crowd and was an overall success. We hope to see you all at next years Diwali Ball.
Happy Diwali!
Bhakti Sambwani & Alisha Surtani
