HKSSF Athletics – Day Two
HKSSF Athletics Day Two took place on 27 February. The WIS Athletics team came out with very respectable results as numerous participants made the finals that will take place on 3 March. The highlight of the day came from Clayton Gibb in the 5000m Boys A Finals. Clayton paced himself for an early lead, running with the top 5 pack for the first 5 laps. It was clear, halfway through the event, that Clayton was going to get a top 5 finish, but a medal finish was still up for grabs as it was tightly contested for. With the DBS runner being relatively far in first place, Clayton’s breakaway finally came with 3 laps to go as he broke from the rest of the pack and went for a chase down for first place. The final lap was a tightly contested one as Clayton was on pace to overtake for first place. However, it was not meant to be as DBS’ representative barely holds onto his early lead and wins by a narrow margin of 1.5 seconds. In spite of that, Clayton placed second and salvaged 7 points for the boys athletics team. Other results on the day are as follows:
