Inter Dynasty Athletics Finals 2016

Last Thursday marked West Island School’s Inter Dynasty Athletics Finals at Stanley Ho Sports Centre Complex. It was a sunny morning filled with competition and excitement. Students from all year groups competed in various events including: track, hurdles, discus, high jump, long jump, shot put and javelin. The stalls were filled with the six dynasties all grouped together as they cheered on their team mates along with their mascots on the field. The competition was fierce and athletes were seen pushing themselves to the end as they ran, jump and threw at various events around the stadium.

The PTA put up a stall filled with food and drink, while the Girl Up service team were out selling delicious baked goods. WIS staff were on the ground keeping score and handling various events. The staff relay, as usual, was a huge hit with students who were excited to see their teachers running and displaying their athletic styles.

It was a victorious win for the Song dynasty who placed first in the whole school. Congratulations to them!

Our thanks to the PE department for organising the event – a huge task on their part.

Finally, thank you to all the parents who came to the event. It was a great turn out and your support is very encouraging to West Island.
