JFK Link 2016 – Term Wrap
The JFK Link activity has been volunteering in the Hong Kong Red Cross John F Kennedy Centre since April 2016. The current group of Year 9s have taken over from the Year 11s who initiated this worthwhile project in 2013. JFK link students volunteer their time in an outreach project assisting student who face considerable challenges in their learning. It has been a pleasure to coordinate this worthwhile CAS activity!
Mr Mason
JFK link is extremely fun and interesting CAS activity, it helps you develop your social skills, but at the same time you can make an impact on someone’s English. It is also great to go to because you can help people improve their English, but at the same time, you can have fun going to JFK link. It is also a great activity to go to, because anyone can go to the school and help out, as long as you sign up.

Joining JFK is one of the best activity choices that I have ever made. It is such a great opportunity and such a great learning experience. I have learnt about the individual students what they like and what they don’t like, I have learnt many new things during JFK and I really advise to do it next year!

JFK link is an extremely rewarding CAS project. The WIS students help in improving English for physically handicapped students at JKF Centre. JFK students are learning the HK curriculum. Their interactions with WIS students is structured with an underlying purpose of improving English communication. Over 50% of the students at JFK are residential and go home only on weekends or holidays. The JFK students eagerly wait to meet their friends at WIS, as our students are their link to bigger student community and society. This CAS activity not only serves the fundamental purpose of improving English for JFK students but also makes them feel accepted, giving them an opportunity to make friends and be a part of the larger society. Kudos to our students in providing this social-link to JFK students who do not have as much similar opportunities.
