Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) Courses for Parents

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness means moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness. It is cultivated by refining our capacity to pay attention, intentionally, in the present moment, and then sustaining that attention over time as best we can. In the process, we become more in touch with our life as it is unfolding.

Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We feel more alive. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation and healing.

~ Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D (founder of the MBSR program,
Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical School)

How will I learn in an MBSR course?
Through experiential engagement with guided instruction in mindfulness practices (eating, breathing, walking, yoga movement meditations), group dialogue and mindful communication exercises with fellow participants, and daily home practice throughout the course. MBSR teaches you how to become more aware, moment by moment, of the physical and psychological factors that affect your wellbeing, and what tools that you can develop to change your relationship more effectively in handling stress, anxiety, pain and illness.
