MYP Design – Year 8 Textiles – Retroreflective

Our Year 8 textile students have been investigating materials and yarns that glow in the dark to improve the visibility and safety features of sports kit bags for students. 

Using their research and design inspiration from optical artists, students generated creative ideas for laser-cut textile patterns using retro-reflective materials and CADCAM.  They further explored these through paper engineering techniques to test initial ideas and concepts.

Students successfully produced an exciting range of high visibility bags, creatively designed and constructed using zero waste production processes. Pretty awesome!
