Pink Week at WIS – a fantastic end!
West Island School was awash with pink on Friday 9 November which saw the final activities end another very successful Pink Week, that helped raise donations totalling over 27,000 HKD!!
All the activities were in collaboration with the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF), and has further strengthened our status as a Pink Ribbon partner with them.
HKBCF is the first non-profit organisation in Hong Kong dedicated to mitigating the threat of breast cancer in the local community through education, patient support, research and advocacy. West Island School came together as a community to support HKBCF through a number of activities and events that included the Pink Inter-Dynasty Bake Off, Pink mini-triathlon and a range of educational resources such as tutor time activities. WIS also had its very first informational workshop lead by school nurse Ms Saffron Brown.
Results from the Inter-Dynasty Bake-Off saw Song win the overall competition (Round 1). There were some very talented bakers on show, producing some delicious delights which were enjoyed by our students. A special mention to our two student organisers, Ella Brown and Maddie Scott, who organised and promoted the event this year.
The Pink Mini Team Triathlon saw a large number of competitors joining forces to produce a team to compete in a swim, row and run. Well done to all competitors, the overall results can be found HERE.
An incredible week that has seen our community show compassion and consideration for others. Hopefully our efforts and funding can help support breast health education, research and those in need, in the local community.
Well done WIS!
