Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
We have wholeheartedly embraced Christmas this year. ELF has been a great success with talented acting, singing and incredible costumes due to the work of Emma Fordham and her textiles helpers. There are many more behind the scenes (and in front of house) who came together to support our learners and give such a great performance. Four Buddy Elves, Three Jovies, Two Santas and only one great Arts Faculty– thank you for overseeing such a fine performance!
Our Learning Centre also continued the party this week as we welcomed students from other ESF schools for games, fun and food. Wednesday Night we hosted carols and Christmas songs after the Year 7 Big Bash and Christmas market. Thank you to the music team and for the PTA who have fed us throughout.
Marisha Bisht received a visit from ESF Directors to be congratulated for winning this year’s ESF Christmas card competition; I believe it is the first time for WIS. The winning design is stunning, professional and better than most I have seen on the commercial shelves. It was part of wider work undertaken by Mrs Bemet that included block printing.
Shout out to Sophie Lau who is also this year’s first winner of the Gold Award as part of our credit system.
It wouldn’t be WIS if we hadn’t enjoyed some more sports, B and C Grade boys won the ICHK Touch Rugby tournament and WIS Junior cricket team who won against DMS-Broadway. Great finish to the year!
Let’s all rest now.
Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and thank you to all the students, parents and staff who make this great community.
See you in the New Year!
Chris Sammons
Principal
