Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
As we head towards the end of the week, I am pleased to unveil work that has been ongoing for some time which has finally come to fruition. We launch over the weekend our new WIS Website which will be the gateway for information for you alongside Wisdom, our parent, student and staff portal.
From now the school bulletin will arrive by email into your inbox with my message and a direct link to the website directing you to the latest news and upcoming events. The website will be the celebratory site for all that is happening at WIS and will be your chance to see what is up and coming too. So that will be our news page and by linking the bulletin to this we are encouraging you to visit and become familiar with the website and social media too.
At the top of the website you will find that have provided quick links to our social media accounts namely Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google, YouTube and LinkedIn. The content on these accounts will differ slightly from feed-to-feed:
- Facebook is our home feed – everything links back to here and viewers will be able to reach everything from here including posts on the new website.
- Twitter is our real time feed capturing school events as they happen.
- Instagram will host one-off pictures of events, trips and happenings.
- Google+ will host our online photo albums containing multiple photos of events
- Youtube will host and promote videos regarding West Island School and our many activities
We hope this will really help to promote and celebrate all we do here at WIS.
As we look forward into next week, I do want to promote our Circle in The Water Arts Festival. Our dedicated Creative Arts Team use the name Circle in the Water for their productions as HK is of course, just that. Next week we have numerous events occurring including our school play Caucasian Chalk Circle. I would encourage you to come to this thought provoking production which is pertinent for our times. The students and staff have been working hard on this production and we anticipate real excellence. Tickets are on sale via the website for the both shows on December 9 and 10.
I would also like to remind parents of our school Sponsored Walk on the 9 December which is a tri-annual event. We have asked for support and payment before the event in the same way as websites such as just giving do as we know the children will all complete the task and enjoy the carnival afterwards. We appreciate your support as we look to support our service events and commitments.
Yours,
Jane
