Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

Over fifty West Island students came together with ‘Sunshine Action’ on Saturday to help feed the people of Hong Kong. Founded in 2008, the charity provides rice, packed food, medicine and toiletries to the poorest people in our community. Working with other community groups, 2300 bags were packed, tied, transported and delivered. This weekend sees their further return as students will assist with distribution to Hong Kong’s local community.

Monday began with the filming for our Diwali celebration. The Auditorium is being refurbished so we have sought a number of alternatives to make sure everybody continues to celebrate in one of our finest traditions. ‘Pink ladies’ and ‘T-birds’ looked amazing, ably led by Ms Hannaford; the celebration of Diwali this year will involve the audience dancing to your favourite Grease hits. Tickets will be available next week, so watch this space!

Today, sees the finale of Inter Dynasty Rowing. After a delayed start, the Dynasties will have a final competition and staff too will be joining with students to bring their team over the line. Good luck to all.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend.

Yours,
Mr Chris Sammons
(Principal)
