Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,

This week saw the beginnings of the run up to our Swimming gala and Sports festival later this month with a number of year groups competing in heats for their Dynasty. Good to see the team spirit very much there at the pool and for the new Year 7 it is their first chance to swim for their Dynasty and gain a sense of pride in the community spirit these competitions bring.

For parents we held a Year 12 welcome and information evening to outline the two years ahead for Post 16 students. I am very pleased to say that Year 12 is completely full as we had enormous interest this year from students across Hong Kong schools wishing to access BTEC and IB; interest from new family arrivals to Hong Kong and also a record number of students in the previous Year 11 staying to complete their High school education with us. It is good to see the confidence the community places in the school to ensure the best education for students before university or college. The evening was very well attended with some helpful information from my Vice Principal Jane Fisher regarding the processes at Post 16 as well as Susan Carey Director of Learning Post 16, the Head of Year 12 Sara Ellison and the careers team led by Catherine Schofield. This year we also invited the tutors of Year 12 to attend to meet with parents.

I hope you all also enjoyed the additional holiday afforded by the government during the week.

Yours,

Jane
