Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
For the sixth consecutive year, Post 16 WIS students arrived at The Peak to run the 24 Hour Race a few weeks ago, to raise awareness and funds for modern day slavery. Our 40 runners represented our school and the charity with merit. Thank you to Ms Withana for coordinating the teams and the many staff who took shifts during the day and night to keep runners going. An excellent turn out for a great cause!
It was great to watch A Grade Football on Monday evening at Shep Kip Mei this week. The team has played together since Year 7 and it showed. A hard fought game which demonstrated team work and skill. Sadly, the cup was lost, but the game was respectable and the team played strongly throughout, without letting their spirits drop. Congratulations on this memorable moment A Grade Team; a real achievement to have got through to the finals. To have played and lost is better than never having played at all.
The calendar year is nearly at a close and Christmas is looming fast. Next week looks to mark its arrival with style at WIS. The Creative Arts Faculty have been working extra hours in preparation for this year’s production of “Arabian Nights by Dominic Cooke” which opens for two nights on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Break a leg!
The WIS Christmas Market is also here again on 6 December and families are warmly invited to attend and snap up some last minute bargains.
Finally, we wish success to the Oxbridge candidates who have interviews over the next few weeks. Seven for Cambridge and two for Oxford colleges, thank you to the Careers team for your ongoing support of all our students.
Enjoy a relaxing weekend and I look forward to seeing some of you for the launch of our new Design Technology facility on Saturday.
Yours,
Chris Sammons
