Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
Thank you to everybody who came to celebrate WIS 25th Anniversary Gala celebration. Being with our alumni, parents, staff and ESF colleagues ensured the evening was a confirmation of what our community can achieve together. I would like to thank our Support Staff who worked hard during the year and on the evening for all of us to enjoy ourselves. May the next 25 years be as bright!
On the same day we enjoyed the company of our Year 6 students who will become part of the school from August. It was great to see students finding their way round with ease, making new friends and listening attentively to what we believe and what we can create in our future together.
If that wasn’t enough, we also hosted our second Australian and New Zealand University Careers Fair in collaboration with the Australian Consulate. The event was well attended by 120 families from across the year groups who took the opportunity to talk to representatives and explore the range of courses on offer. The WIS Careers team made presentations showing where students fitted into the two countries’ National Qualifications Framework and also the application process for domestic and international applicants.
I would like to commend to you the achievements of the Year 7 Football team who have played and beaten both Harrow and Hong Kong International School in this year’s HKISSF finals. The boys played as a real team in two very close games.
The rest of this week has been highlighted by Year 7 students sharing their work through Student Led Conferences. As well as sharing learning with parents, there has been reflection on different approaches to learning and how these can be developed further. I have really enjoyed seeing a range of outcomes and reflecting on both the enjoyment, engagement and progress they are demonstrating.
Enjoy the weekend.
Yours,
Christopher Sammons
