Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
This week saw a number of events across the school including numerous sporting activities in full swing for our students with many involved in HKSSF and ISSF competitions. Already WIS is leading the way with our students coming first, second and third in the cross country ISSF competition on Thursday evening as one example of many.
Rehearsals continue for Caucasian Chalk Circle which takes place in December; be aware so you can order tickets before the event. Before this we also have the Diwali Ball in November which I understand is already sold out due to its popularity!
We also saw the arrival of a piano into WIS which has been deliberately left for students to ‘find’ in the public space around school. The concept is to introduce music around the school where students can play at lunchtime and experiment with musical equipment in a fun way. This is a wonderful new initiative introduced by the music department which I am pleased to see occurring.
AYP Bronze left today with Year 10 students; staff willingly giving part of the weekend tomorrow to aiding this venture too.
I am aware of so much happening at WIS for our students to grow and develop.
Traditional lessons also continue in their excellence and focus around all of the enrichment we offer which we see as learning beyond the classroom.
There are also two interesting articles about WIS Alumni Edward Haynes and Julia Mason in the new ESF Alumni magazine published last week. Please click here to read the magazine.
Yours,
Jane
