Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends of WIS,
Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all. The power of a rejuvenating holiday for both students and staff is noticeable.
During Monday, teaching teams assembled to further develop our curriculum plans for the MYP curriculum. Support Staff donated their time and effort to the Food Angels project with 23 West Island staff working the morning shift at Sham Shui Po. We helped to prepare and pack 2,017 hot food boxes for homeless in Hong Kong. Congratulations on making such a large contribution to the community and kicking off the year so positively.
Some further opportunities for West Island families include ESF’s Got Musical Talent. This annual event is led by Jockey Club Sarah Roe School. Their team raise awareness of the work we do in the foundation for students with special educational needs. A number of WIS students will perform on the day and we would be delighted to see you there. The performances are showcased on Saturday 27 January from 2 – 6pm at Grappas Cellar Central. It is a great family afternoon, so please come along, have some lunch and enjoy the music. Feel free to spread the word to anyone else who you think might be interested.
Thank you to the many people who have already donated to the work of Ann and Tony Bruno raising funds for suicide prevention programmes in Hong Kong. Unfortunately JustGiving have moved out of Hong Kong and they have needed to switch the website should anybody wish to give further: https://www.simplygiving.com/Jamie-Bruno
It was a real pleasure to see students bursting with energy this week. Today is Sports Day and I am sure the cold will keep us at peak performance. Good luck to all the Dynasties!
Yours,
Christopher Sammons
