Remembrance Day Centenary in Hong Kong
Sunday 11 November 2018 recognised the centenary since the end of the First World War, to remember and commemorate those who have died in the line of duty. Government officials and members of the public gathered to pay respects to those who made sacrifices as they protected Hong Kong and the Commonwealth.
WIS Pre 16 student leaders Brian So, Pearl Ng and Sophia Tavernard-Thomspon along with Mr Hewson, laid a wreath on behalf of West Island School, during the Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday. It was an incredibly moving event and one that the student leaders will remember observing members of the armed services who died in the line of duty.
The WIS singers, on the other hand, joined singers from other Hong Kong schools and performed in a concert at St John’s Cathedral on the evening of Monday 12 November, to mark the centenary of the end of WW1. The choir sounded glorious as their voices soared through the magical setting of the cathedral.
