Special Mention: Lachlan Soughan
At West Island School, we encourage our school values: Community, Compassion, Consideration, Commitment, Courage. When we see students out in the community displaying these very values, it is truly an honourable moment for us. As such, we would like to commend Year 9 student, Lachlan Soughan, who initially thought he would go out and observe at last weekend’s HK Shark Foundation’s No Shark Fin protest, but ended up jumping in to help. The protest took place in Causeway Bay and its aim was to draw attention to the unsustainable and unethical trade of shark’s fin.
Lachlan showed elements of courage and compassion as he set out to make a difference within the community. We applaud Lachlan on his great achievement and courage.
