Student Laptop Provision for Year 10 and above in Academic Year 2018-2019
Dear Parents,
I am writing to remind you that, unless your child was a late entrant to the school, the accidental damage policy and software licenses that you purchased bundled together with your child’s school laptop in Year 7 will expire at the end of this academic year.
Importantly this means that from the start of the next academic year your child’s current West Island School laptop will no longer be supported by the West Island School Service Desk, nor will your child be able to borrow a loaner laptop from the school.
For seamless continuity in your child’s laptop use, West Island School strongly urges you to replace your child’s current laptop with the next generation of school laptop. The laptop was chosen after a comprehensive testing and tender process, overseen by the School Council. To ensure that all software used on laptops at West Island School remains legally installed and operated we will continue to charge, through the school’s ePayment system, the annual WIS Software Fee. This fee is payable regardless of the model of laptop used. This fee is subject to the licence costs the school incurs from its software providers each year. The software is available for download by all WIS students regardless of platform choice. The school and ESF negotiates hard to secure the best deal possible. The fee for next year is HK$350.
