Students Rock at Amplified Music Festival
On Friday 17 February, four Year 12 students Harmeet Bhatia, Vidit Bhatwadekar, Raphael Lam and Andrea Sepulchri held West Island’s Amplified Music Festival. This is the first time that a music festival has been held at WIS in more than five years and took over six months of planning.
Their aim was to raise funds for the Hong Kong Music Children’s Foundation, a charity that aims to provide instruments and tuition for underprivileged kids in Hong Kong. The night contained six of Hong Kong’s top teenage bands: Asyndeton, The Folk Ups, The Pansies, Zero Displacement, Loyal Panda and Catch 22, and it is safe to say that everyone who came had a wonderful time.
In total, nearly $4,000 was raised for the charity through ticket and merchandise sales as well as donations.
The Amplified committee would like to thank Ms Dalgarno and Mr Jolly for their support and suggestions throughout the process, as well as Lok for tirelessly setting up the venue and sound on the night.
