The Creators Project
The Creators Project is an entirely student run event that started in term 3 of last school year. Its aim is to produce a musical that is completely written, composed, directed and performed by students. Leaders of the project include Patrick McCool (director), Carrie Neilson (choreographer), Casper Lam (composer) and Maddie Bowers (writer and founder). The performance of this musical is now on the Thursday 25th February. The musical that has been produced by the students is called The Beat.
The Beat is set in a radio station in the 1980’s. Gemma is an wannabe radio presenter who gets a job as a cleaner at The Beat Radio. There she meets Robert (a radio presenter), Gill (the radio producer) and Eric (the radio manager). Using her wits and all-or-nothing attitude she slowly climbs the ranks in the business and promises her best friend, Blake, that she will use her new found connections to help Blake’s band get a chance in the spotlight. However, as she gets closer to her dream she is faced with more and more challenging decisions that cause her to question what is really important. Her career or her loyalty to her friends? All whilst simultaneously battling an industry that dismisses anything and everything that doesn’t fit mainstream ideals.
The students involved have put in a lot of effort to make this production what is it today. Please come and support them! The tickets are free with an optional charity donation. Pick up tickets from outside the music room or from the music teachers. Please come and support the students!
