The HK Pistons Summit Everest!
On 1 October 2016, teachers from the English Schools Foundation were successful in their attempt to summit Mt. Everest, climbing Mount Butler (Hong Kong Island) 49 times, a total of 253 kilometers. Not only being intrigued by this idea, the Hong Kong Pistons Cycling Club will be raising money for one of their school’s newest community partner projects; United World School Cambodia (UWS). The group of cyclists raised just over 32,500 HKD.
It was a gruelling event that took blood, sweat and tears. In total, the riders took just over 25 hours of riding to complete this mammoth task. The cyclists are now part of a very elite group of riders, joining the Hells 500 club and putting their names down in history.
The reason behind this was simple. West Island School supports United World Schools build schools and support communities by providing a free basic education for children who would otherwise go without. United World Schools is transforming the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable children. We take a number of students out to Cambodia to teach and support in these projects. This year we decided to take it further and raise more money and more awareness for this incredible charity.
A huge thank you to everyone that supported this event, we could not of done it without you!
