Presentation: Using Technology To Support Individuals With Dyslexia

This month the Dyslexia Association is happy to welcome Andrew Luceno who will present some software which can be used to support students with specific learning exceptionalities, in particular, individuals with dyslexia. Andrew is currently a Secondary School Learning Enhancement Teacher at Chinese International School in Hong Kong.

This session will focus on the use of assistive technology to support learners with reading exceptionalities and disorders of written expression.  Specifically, cross-platform screen reader and dictation software will be covered, as well as the use of the iPad as a potential all-in-one note taking, reading and writing tool.  Software packages highlighted in the session will include: Texthelp’s Read & Write Gold, Ghotit Real Writer and Reader, Dragon 5 for Mac, and Notability.

This promises to be an interesting presentation with a takeaway for everyone.  Additionally, Andrew has a number of free Ghotit apps to give away through a lucky draw on the evening so please bring along your ticketflap receipt for a chance to enter into the lucky draw and win one of these wonderful apps.
