Vote for WIS Alumni James Tan for Hong Kong Sports Star Award
WIS Alumni James Tan has been nominated for the Hong Kong Sports Star awards; an award that looks to further encourage teams to strive for excellence as well as promote sporting role models and the development of sport in Hong Kong.
When asked to explain why he should be voted for, James said, “I am one of the youngest nominees, up against Olympians and Hong Kong’s best athlete. I’ve had very little official support and not many that have believed in me, but I have persevered and proven people wrong. Over the past 2 years I kept on rising and 2016 was my best year in terms of performance. It saw my first ITU (International Triathlon Union) and Continental Championship win, I went to compete in my first World Champs, I finished my first Olympic Distance at 18 years old being the youngest competitor in the field. I came 3rd in the HK National Champs. My last school year got me my best results with 2 Silvers and a Bronze in HKSSF and A couple of golds in ISSFHK in the Athletics and X-country.”
James also participated in the AVOHK Half Marathon last weekend and placed third – yet another feat in his basket of accomplishments.
