West Island Student Leaders Raise over 40,000 HKD for Community Partners

West Island School recently moved to decide upon community partners who we will not only support but develop a greater connectedness with our local partners over the coming years. These community partners are Crossroads Foundation HK, HK Shark Foundation, Feeding HK, Society for the Relief of Disabled Children (SRDC), Bethune House, Integrated Brilliant Education Trust (IBET).

The student leadership team decided to hold an Inter-Dynasty Coin Challenge to raise awareness and funds for these partners. Students went about sourcing HKD loose change, bringing into their tutor base and placing into their own coin collection cans. The event culminated with all the coins being laid out in a specially designed Dynasty area.

Once all of the year groups had placed their coins into the area and the time was up, the Dynasty who had laid the most coins (and raised the most money) in the assembly slot were crowned the Inter-Dynasty Coin Challenge champions of 2019. Below are this year’s results and congratulations to the Yuan Dynasty.

Our student Dynasty Leaders also put together a wonderful afternoon of Dynasty celebrations in support of our six community partners raising over 16,000HKD. In total West Island School managed to raise over 42,000HKD for our closest community partners.
