WIS Annual Christmas Market: A Festive Success!
Tuesday 6 December saw West Island’s second Christmas Market; led the Student Service Committee, it was a huge success with over 25 student-led stalls raising awareness and selling their wares. Service Learning is integral to the school’s learner profile and being able to showcase their efforts and at the same time raise much needed funds were indeed celebrated at this now established annual event.
The two sessions were well attended with great offerings from delicious snacks, hand woven scarves, soft toys and beautiful stationery. Students also provided great live performances during the shopping frenzy. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes and to you the WIS Community for supporting this event.
Alongside the market we introduced our first Bake for a Better Future Competition. With 15 strong competitors; many of whom have featured in previous Bake Off Projects it was a tough process to judge who would win the Christmas Cake Cup 2016. The winners this year were Nimisha Deva and Priyanka de Manny in Year 10. A fantastically delicious traditional Christmas Cake with fondant and icing. Well done girls!
Merry Christmas! Enjoy the festive period; a time for sharing and spending time together.
