WIS at ESF 50th Anniversary Secondary Olympics
To celebrate ESF’s 50th Year Anniversary, a sporting extravaganza, Secondary Olympics, took place at Hong Kong Football Club and students competed in five sports. Select teams from Island, West Island and South Island competed against select ESF teams from KGV School, Sha Tin College, Renaissance College and Discovery College.
In Hockey, the boys match was of an exceptionally high calibre with the Island dominating play but eventually losing out 2-1. The girls hockey, despite scoring 1st and putting on a valiant display were also defeated.
In Rugby, a far more experienced girls Kowloon team in put on a solid performance to take a convincing win. In contrast the Island boys team fought hard and clinched a much closer victory than anticipated.
Netball was dominated by the Island Select team who produced high quality netball from the starting whistle.
Basketball was a closely fought competition but again the Kowloon Select team finished both games in front.
Football was the final sport and the Island girls played hard but couldn’t capitalise. However, under coach Lant the boys Island Select team produced strong attacking play and took a comfortable victory.
It was a great day of sport, celebration and competition and it is hoped this will grow into a yearly event.
Thanks to the entire PE Department for their support and coaching of all teams.
