WIS at Hong Kong International Schools Federation (ISSF) Track & Field Championships
The golden sunlight did not outshine the athletes on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week and the beaming smiles of the athletes said it all, as 5 out of 8 of the ISSF Athletics Champions banners were held up on the podium by athletes from Year 7 through to Year 13.
The WIS competitive spirit was infectious as the students cheered on their team-mates for gold and others competed in events for the very first time. There were some fantastic Personal Bests alongside demonstrations of great sportsmanship, as other athletes were struggling to meet their goals. West Island School champions piled into the bus (so jubilant, they forgot the teachers), and brought home the following ISSF Championships banners to add to the growing collection:
U12 Girls
U14 Girls
U16 Boys
U20 Girls
U20 Boys
WIS are once again the ISSFHK Overall Girls and Overall Boys Athletics Champions – 2018 (all results can be found on the ISSFHK website)
We were also lucky to have had some VIP spectators that included WIS former lifeguard Jonathan Law who came to support the WIS Athletics teams. His health is gradually improving as he continues treatment.
Congratulations to all team members – keep training and see you at the track!
