WIS at Polar Half Marathon Relay Challenge
Last Sunday’s Polar Half Marathon (21km) Relay Challenge saw two teams from running club “BuffCo” take first and second place in the junior category. Among the athletes were four West Island runners: Bruce Xu, Rafe Man, Swiss Duangthip and Nirvan Lulla.
Teams of 3 runners completed a 7km loop in Tai Mei Tuk, carrying a baton the entire way. The first place team included Bruce Xu, running the 2nd leg. The second place team consisted entirely of West runners, with Nirvan Lulla starting proceedings before the 2nd leg by Rafe Man brought them up into the top 10 overall, before Swiss Duangthip completed the relay. They finished in 1 hour 16 mins, just 3 mins behind Bruce’s team. Their performances were enough to secure 1st and 2nd in the junior category and 5th and 7th overall, with the HK Police force finishing in 6th.
BuffCo and WIS running coach Harry Loasby was pleased with such an impressive performance from the West runners, and they are looking forward to testing their speed on the track next week at the ISSFHK championships, held in Tseung Kwan O on 26 March.
Well done to all!
