WIS Chef 2018
The WIS Chef Finals took place on Monday 16 April, with five pairs vying for the spot to compete against the other secondary schools in the ESF Chef 2018 Competition taking place at the end of May.
The students cooked their hearts out and created some incredible concoctions. The brief was to prepare a two course experience, where the dessert had to be meringue based and of a standard fit for the Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong.
The five finalists took part in two rounds to get to this stage; they made the cut from an original 37 entries. Every chef who entered, to who made it to the quarter and semi finals also deserve credit. Our finalist were:
Ella Brown and Greta Mcmahon
William Tiang and Howard Gu
Gayathri Eyunni and Kamakshi Bhavnani
James Liang and Kyan Tomordy
Chikara Kameshima and Coleman Chiu
Our judges were previous winners, Kenton Lai and Alicia Tran. After much tasting, pondering and discussions, the results were as follows:
3rd Place:
Gayathri Eyunni and Kamakshi Bhavnani
2nd Place:
Ella Brown and Greta Mcmahon
1st Place and who will therefore be representing West Island at the ESF Chef 2018 Competition:
James Liang and Kyan Tomordy
Congratulations and good luck to James and Kyan. Bring on the cooking!
Happy weekend all!
