WIS Equestrian Team Update
On 20 November, eight riders from the WIS Equestrian team took part in the heats for the Mini Inter-School Equestrian competition at Lo Wu Saddle Club. Six riders rode at preliminary level and two rode at introductory level. All riders completed a dressage test and a course of jumps. The two riders at introductory level were new to the school team and both did extremely well. Marco Wilson came first in both the introductory dressage and lower division show-jumping and Kyra Haskins secured third place in jumping. The success continued for the riders at the preliminary level/higher division where Xaviera Artaza, Rebecca Yetman and Jade Leshetz placed 1st, 3rd and 4th respectively in British Dressage test.
In show-jumping, our riders placed 4th, 5th and 6th respectively (Soha Kabbaj, Jade Leshetz, Xaviera Artaza). A huge well done to Sarah Yetman who, despite not having placed in the top six, managed to handle her very stubborn horses and still complete both the jumping and the dressage courses to a high standard.
On 25 November, three riders took part in the Tuen Mun Inter-School’s warm up dressage challenge. Xaviera Artaza placed 6th in the event.
Thank you to the teachers and parents who came to support us. We know that without you, our participation in these competitions would not be possible.
