WIS Girls at Dragages: Girls on the Move Initiative
Hong Kong is home to many great engineering works as part of its infrastructural development.
Dragages gave Eve and myself an eye opening opportunity job shadowing opportunity in Hong Kong which included interacting with female engineers in Hong Kong’s Northern sub-sea tunnel.
The sub-sea tunnel run’s between the Western New Territories in Hong Kong and Lantau Islands 50 metres below sea level and uses the world’s largest tunnel boring machine. We were lucky to be able to see one of the tunnel building machines in action! It was also a great experience to network with other girls who are so similar to us.
We use these types of tunnels everyday and it was fascinating to see how the tunnel was being built!
